Pursuing a Career in International Law: Strategies for Success February 25, 2008
The American Society of International Law in partnership with the New Professionals Interest Group hosted its annual career panel discussion. Panelists from a variety of international legal practice areas offered their informal views in an open mic setting. Featured guest panelists included: Mélida N. Hodgson Counsel, Miller and Chevalier LLP; Elizabeth L. Young, Interim Director, George Washington University Immigration Law Clinic; Christopher Le Mon Associate, Shearman & Sterling LLP; Julia Fromholz, Advocacy Counsel, Human Rights First; and Saira Mohamed, Attorney-Adviser, Office of the Legal Adviser, U.S. State Department. Adrienne Felecia Frazier, Attorney-Advisor for the Bureau of Industry and Security at the U.S. Department of Commerce, moderated the discussion. The program was free and open to all interested in pursuing or enhancing their careers in international law.

Practicing International Law: Perspectives from Young Professionals in the Field November 30, 2007
The Women’s International Law Interest Group of the American Society of International Law (ASIL) will hosted a luncheon discussion for young professionals interested in opportunities for women in the field of international law. Speakers from various fields of international law discussed their current positions and responsibilities, highlighting aspects of their background and experience that helped them secure their posts.

First Annual Reception Honoring International Master of Law Students in the Washington, DC Area September 27, 2007
The American Society of International Law hosted its first annual reception honoring International Master of Law students in Washington, DC. This year's reception was co-sponsored by American University's Washington College of Law. International LLM students and administration from a variety of law schools of the DC-metro area as well as members from the diplomatic community were in attendance. Elizabeth Andersen, Executive Director of ASIL, and Dr. Daniel Bradlow, Professor of Law Director of the International Legal Studies Program at American University Washington College of Law presented the opening remarks for the evening.
