Kadoorie Earth Programme 2024 Talk Series
Following the talk delivered by Colin Campbell in late February, we bring further inspiration and learning from indigenous knowledge around the world. This time, we are honored to hear from Brazilian Indigenous leader Ailton Krenak on Earth Day, April 22.
In this online talk, Ailton will share the cosmovisions of Indigenous Peoples - holistic and integrated visions of the human being immersed in the great earth that inspire their ways of inhabiting the world. In all continents where indigenous peoples were able to survive colonialism to make it alive into the 21st century, they have widened their sense of belonging beyond national frontiers. Ethnic-minority people all over the Americas retain their worldviews forming a constellation of traditions and local knowledge that we, in this moment of ecological crisis, can learn from.
This talk is part of 'Selvagem--an intersectional Indigenous-led collective from Brazil braiding together scientific, artistic and traditional knowledge, illuminating the mystery and splendour of the living world. The talk will be conducted in Portuguese, with simultaneous English translation provided.
