International Law Weekend: Global Problems, Legal Solutions: Challenges for Contemporary International Lawyers [1]
Co-sponsored each year by the American Society of International Law, International Law Weekend (ILW) brings together more than 1,000 students, practitioners, academics, government officials, NGO representatives and members of the U.N. and the diplomatic and consular communities. More than 30 expert panels will explore the many roles that international law plays in addressing the conference theme. The draft program is available here [2].
ILW begins Thursday evening, November 5, 2015, with a distinguished opening panel at the House of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York. A reception sponsored by Shearman & Sterling LLP will follow and is open to all conference attendees. The conference continues Friday, November 6 and Saturday, November 7, 2015 at Fordham University School of Law. Friday’s activities feature a keynote address at Fordham University School of Law. This event is open to all conference attendees. On Friday evening, the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Singapore to the United Nations will host a reception for a limited number of conference attendees. Pre-registration (and a small payment) is required.
ILW 2015 will offer engaging panels on current problems and innovative solutions in both public and private international law. A number of panels this year will be designated for mandatory continuing legal education credit (MCLE). MCLE credit will be offered to all ILW attendees at no additional cost through the sponsorship and assistance of White & Case LLP.
ILW is sponsored by the American Branch of the International Law Association (ABILA) and the International Law Students Association (ILSA). ASIL is a co-sponsor of this event.
