Thomas Buergenthal is one of the youngest survivors of the Auschwitz and Sachsenhausen concentration camps, and he is considered one of the world’s leading international law and international human rights scholars. Professor Buergenthal has had a long successful career as a human rights advocate and scholar. Professor Buergenthal served as the Dean of American University Washington College of Law from 1980-1985, and he has served in numerous international positions including a ten-year term as Judge at the International Court of Justice from 2000-2010. Join us for a conversation with Professor Bergenthal on March 19, 2019 from 10:00am – 1:00pm: welcoming remarks by Professor and Associate Dean Brenda Smith; introduction by Professor and Dean Emeritus Claudio Grossman; and closing remarks: Professor and Director of the International Legal Studies Program Padideh Ala’i.
