The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights was established in 1993. On September 1, 2018 Michelle Bachelet assumed her functions as the seventh United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights. Ms. Bachelet will speak on the “Challenges to the Protection of Human Rights in the 21st Century and the Role of the United Nations.” Welcoming Remarks provided by Senior Associate Dean Brenda Smith. Introduction provided by Professor and Dean Emeritus Claudio Grossman. A short reception will follow.
