Human Rights in The Americas: Challenges, Obstacles and Opportunities [1]

Date:
Wednesday, October 28, 2020 - 12:30pm to 1:30pm
Description:

In October 2020, the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, based in Washington, D.C., held a hearing on structural racism in the United States.  At the hearing, the Commission heard the views of representatives of non-governmental organizations, victims of police brutality and members of the U.S. State Department. The Inter-American Commission has also issued recommendations to the United States government following-up its report on the closure of Guantanamo, and has considered several human rights issues in the country, along with the monitoring of human rights in Latin America.

Join us for a conversation with Commissioner Piovesan to discuss the current human rights situation in the continent.
