War Powers After Afghanistan [1]

Date:
Monday, November 15, 2021 - 12:00pm to 1:00pm
Description:

Two decades after the 9/11 attacks, the Biden administration has withdrawn the U.S. from Afghanistan and declared an end to the ?forever war.? But what does that mean for war powers going forward? How should Congress restructure authorizations for the use of military force and war powers oversight? How does international law constrain counterterror operations by the Biden administration and its successors? Join top experts for a webinar discussion of these and other questions about war powers after Afghanistan. Panelists include Tess Bridgeman, co-editor-in-chief of Just Security; Yale Law School professor Oona Hathaway, director of the Yale Law School center for Global Legal Challenges; and Rutgers Law School professor Adil Haque. UVA Law professor Kristen Eichensehr, director of the National Security Law Center, will moderate.
