ASIL New York Chapter Marks the Launch of the ASIL-NY Networking Series [1]

The New York Chapter of the American Society of International Law will kick off its ASIL-NY Networking Series with a reception at Microsoft’s spectacular One Dag location. Hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be served.

Prior to the reception Nawi Ukabiala of Debevoise & Plimpton LLP will give welcome remarks on behalf of ASIL-NY. Then Hardy Vieux, Executive Vice President and Chief Program Officer of Kids in Need of Defense, will discuss critical challenges facing defenders of human rights of children around the world. Finally, Michael Cooper, Executive Director of ASIL will give a brief update on the work of the Society.

Hardy Vieux serves as KIND's Executive Vice President and Chief Program Officer. Prior to joining KIND in May 2021, Hardy was Senior VP of Legal at Human Rights First, where he led the organization’s pro bono asylum representation team and its impact litigation efforts. Hardy previously served as a policy fellow with Save the Children in Jordan and as criminal appellate defense counsel in the United States Navy's Judge Advocate General's Corps. He is a 1997 graduate of the University of Michigan’s Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy and Law School and earned his Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy Studies from Duke University.
