UNSC Condemns the Use of Chemical Weapons in Syria and Renews the Mandate of the Joint Investigative Mechanism (October 31, 2016) [1]
On October 31, 2016, the United Nations Security Council passed Resolution 2314 [3] condemning the use of chemical weapons in Syria. The resolution was passed in spite of Russia recently rejecting [4] the UN’s findings that the Syrian government had used chlorine bombs at least three times in the last two years. The resolution also renewed the mandate of a joint investigation mechanism and stated that the Security Council would consider a further extension.
