UNSC Passes Resolution on International Cooperation for Peace and Security (November 18, 2016) [1]
On November 18, 2016, the United Nations Security Council issued a resolution [3] reaffirming “its determination to take effective steps to further enhance the relationship between the UN and regional organizations, in particular the African Union.” In the resolution, the Council noted the need for further financial backing support for the African Union from the United Nations. The resolution follows a report [4] by the office of the Secretary-General on strengthening the cooperation between the United Nations and the African Union.
