The U.S. Department of State has published the text of three agreements which entered into force at the end of 2020. The Agreement Concerning Distributed Ocean Sensing between the U.S. Department of Defense and the NATO Science and Technology Organization Centre for Maritime Research and Experimentation entered into force on October 21, 2020. It has three objectives relating to the development of oceanographic sensing and analytical equipment and the sharing of information of oceanographic data.
The Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement with Poland entered into force on November 13, 2020. The Agreement is aimed at promoting cooperation in defense related matters, assisting the parties in fulfilling their "commitments to the security and defense of each other," and other matters seeking to enhance the relationship between Poland the United States with regard to defense planning and military capability.
The Claims and Dispute Resolution Agreement with Sudan entered into force on October 21, 2020, and relates to the bombings of U.S. Embassies in Nairobi, Kenya, and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, as well as the attack on the U.S.S. Cole. It sets out conditions for the release of funds in escrow for compensation by the Republic of Sudan for the above events.
