The panelists will discuss the impact of COVID-19 on the situation of persons deprived of liberty and under state custody. They will discuss challenges, alternatives, and the path forward. The main speakers will be: James Cavallaro, Former Commissioner, President, and Rapporteur on the Rights of Persons Deprived of Liberty, Inter-American Commission on Human Rights Sofia Galvan, Senior Attorney of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights Juan Mendez, Professor of Human Rights and Former United Nations Rapporteur on Torture Eric Rosenthal, Executive Director, Disability Rights International Rosa Celorio, Burnett Family Associate Dean and Lecturer for International Law, GW Law School - Moderator This event is organized by GW Law School and its International and Comparative Law Program.
