Global Health: What's law got to do with it?

Description:

Law can be a powerful tool for advancing global health, but it is underutilized and not well understood. This satellite session will introduce the field of global health law, both conceptually and in practice. Participants will leave with a greater understanding of how well-designed laws can improve health and how poorly-designed, implemented, or enforced laws can entrench stigma and discrimination. Participants will also be able to describe how the law is a powerful force on the social determinants of health and identify how engaging with legal partners is applicable to their own global health work or interests.
