MIDS 10th Anniversary

Description:

On the occasion of its 10th Anniversary, the MIDS organizes an international conference taking stock of recent developments and challenges in the areas of international commercial arbitration and investor-state dispute settlement.

A panel, featuring prominent experts close to the MIDS program will review the role of the New York Convention, which celebrates its 60 years of existence, in laying the foundation for the development of international commercial arbitration and providing a remarkable level of stability in the field. Another panel will address the resolution of investment disputes, which is currently subject to calls for reform and could be facing radical structural changes. The conference will close with a debate opposing teams of current and former MIDS lecturers arguing for and against the proposition according to which politicization of the appointment process is a necessary characteristic of dispute settlement institutions established by multilateral treaties.

The keynote speech will be delivered by Prof. Philippe Sands QC.
