Child Protection in Armed Conflict

Armed groups and de facto authorities (AGDAs) are key players in the current humanitarian landscape as parties to the majority of armed conflicts around the globe with around 150 million people living under their control or influence. Children face particular vulnerabilities in these circumstances, as one in six live less than 30 miles from active combat zones. Despite the existence of a comprehensive international legal framework protecting children in armed conflict, ensuring its respect by AGDAs still remains an important challenge. Geneva Call, the American Society of International Law (ASIL),the American University Washington College of Law, and Foley Hoag invite you to this panel discussion in Washington D.C or online. This expert conversation will discuss efforts to persuade AGDAs to respect and protect children in hostilities.
